Herbert Roy Zucker's profile

Beechwood Manor- Long Island G Coast Showplace Restored

A veteran of the financial services industry with more than three decades of experience, Herbert Roy Zucker is a sought-after financial advisor who bases his management of client portfolios on insightful and compassionate relationships with his clients. He serves as the principal of SafeDecisions, LLC, which provides electronic in-room safes to residential, commercial, and retail clients. A resident of Glen Cove on New York’s Long Island, Herbert Zucker lives in the historic Beechwood Manor with his wife and four children.

The house was built in 1930 by the architect William Platt for John Teele Pratt Jr. on one of several large lots purchased for his family by petroleum millionaire Charles Pratt. After the Pratt family moved out, the house was used variously as a house of worship, a candle factory, and a multiple-unit residence. The Zuckers purchased the house and started restoring it in early 1997.

Under Cynthia Zucker’s leadership, the renovation took a different path than most. She linked it to the restoration of the Glen Cove waterfront, even scheduling tours of the home and granting the proceeds to the city’s Waterfront Revitalization Plan. Master craftsmen and designers were drawn to the project and imbued it with their special areas of expertise. Fully restored today, the house serves as the family’s home when they are in New York City.
