Larger Than Life: Surrealism Final

Larger Than Life
I have recently started a position  as a full time nanny for another family at Telford Farms, with two kids ages three and five, which means that toys have re-entered my life. Playing with toys and in imaginative worlds again inspired me to reconnect with some of my childhood toys while visiting home for the holidays. I was able to locate my box of old plastic dinosaurs, which were my favorite toy when I was the same age as the family I nanny for.
With this project, I wanted to capture the "larger than life" aspect of the imagination behind playing with toys, especially with plastic dinosaurs.

The images were taken at the same time of day and same place, a local Christmas tree farm, which was helpful for adding the dinosaurs into the image. A challenging characteristic of these images was trying to create masks of the pine trees. Since the tops of the trees have very fine spaces in between their branches, it took a lot of time to erase the right amount of image to still create a realistic image over the dinosaurs.
