Here are some of my top favorite buildings of Dallas! I have a personal relationship with Dallas architecture. I was born and raised in one of the most central areas of Dallas until age 18, but I was never really far away from it until recently. This series is called Memories of Dallas.
These texture studies are based on photos taken from a blissful time in my life where I walked dogs. One of the best jobs ever to be honest. Got to know every single inch of Dallas and some of my favorite buildings. Got to even explore some of these! I stopped doing this when I started developing agoraphobia and deep, crippling anxiety.
Dallas, I love you, but I was haunted by all of these reminders of where I grew up and all of the mistakes made along the way. Running into people gave me anxiety. Everything gave me anxiety. Sometimes I can be such a Scorpio 🦂 Being in Austin now is like being able to breathe again. So yeah, I guess these are about how living in Dallas has shaped me throughout the years. Images of these buildings I grew up seeing regularly are especially nostalgic to me me. If only I had taken a good picture of the Cityplace building 😔 That building is the most personal to me because it’s directly next to the house I grew up in.
Thus concludes my series on Dallas architecture. There are plenty more buildings I would love to do but it’s about time to look forward. Perhaps I should do some Austin buildings 😝🧐?
