I started off the Carnival Poster Project with a text design that I found on csa images. I chose the following words as though it would serve as a banner around the town, urging the public to come. I screenshotted the following images, then created a layer mask around each in order to eliminate the backgrounds from the websites. Additionally, I added a drop shadow on "festival" as it was the bottom image within the text, and would serve as the barrier from the rest of the piece.
Next, I added an image of a clown in the corner. Using the quick selection tool, I diminished its original background and then added a drop shadow afterwards. This gave the piece an extra layer of depth. Additionally, I found an image of a trapezes, which had a cool background behind it. Instead of using the trapeze, I used the yellow circular background and placed it behind the clown.
Next, I added more circus themed images, an elephant and a tiger. I used the same method for each image, using the quick selection tool, then creating a mask, and lastly creating. a drop shadow. I rotated each image in order for it to fit the page best and warped the tiger a bit in order for it to look as though it was standing on top of the "THE".
I then added a circus ticket and a target behind the elephant to give the bottom right depth. I found the most common ticket "admit one" as it is necessary to get into the circus. I simply clicked placed linked, as both images had no background that needed to be eliminated.
To finish up the piece, I added a background. I found this on the same website and placed it as the bottom layer. I used the quick selection tool, then created a mask, and moved the image around to make it fit best.
