Royal Berkshire Hospital external wayfinding

How not to get lost anymore
The Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading (UK) is suffering from a complex architectural site. Visitors often get lost before they even set their foot into one of the buildings.

The proposal for the external wayfinding system addresses this issue by analyzing the elements needed for the orientation around the hospital site. Signs are modular with the minimum amount of elements which can be quickly and inexpensively assembled, disassembled, upgraded and replaced. Many combinations are therefore possible. The basis of the system is the colour-coded map which can be obtained prior to the visit.
