Carnival Poster

I started my carnival project by coming up with a topic that I wanted to focus on and finding a good outline that fit that certain idea. I first thought of a magician and couldn't find too many outlines for my text that fit that. I did find this stage person that looked like he could possibly pull off that title. I then began to clear any unwanted text from the picture and left the guy in the middle.
In this step I continued to find things that fit my magician theme. The guy in the middle doesn't quite fit the description perfectly so I found images that would help convey the magician theme. I also found an outline to out in the background so it doesn't look so bland. The images that I placed down are just outlines of the image so had to make a layer mask to remove any overlapping lines.
Here I began playing with different colors to try to make the images pop out the most and just make the overall piece look better. I went with a lighter colored background at first but it blended into the center image too much so went with the darker background. I also found text that I felt was appropriate for the poster and placed that as the title.
In this step I tried to make the middle piece stand out over the rest by adding an outer glow to the image. I then added more text to the image using the same font as before. Lastly I added an outer glow to the outline along the edges to make the poster more attractive to the eye.
In the end I decided to remove the outer glow in the middle image and make a gradient in the background. I feel like this makes the middle image pop out more than just using an outer glow. I did add an outer glow to the outer images because I felt they blended in the background a little too much and they needed something to make them stand out.
