TM - Capture One & Photoshop Zoom

Zoom with Chris - 20/11/20
Chris messaged me privately on Aula asking if I would like a tutorial in Capture One to try and help my window exposure situation and I knew how much it would help me so I agreed. He said that the zoom would last around 30-45 minutes where we will go through refreshing my minds with the basics as well as the main parts of what could help me to edit my photos to ensure the exposure for the background and the model blends together.

Throughout the tutorial, I took as many notes as possible whilst working through the tutorial with my photo at every opportunity so I could get an understanding of exactly how I should be editing my photos in the same way to help with correcting the exposure in some areas without it impacting on the details.
Below is another screenshot from Capture One where we placed a mask over the models body just so that we could ensure that the exposure, highlights and shadows were being edited in the right areas and making sure that I could see the mask at all times to be able to focus on the right areas to bring the image together. Then when we were done with Capture One, we processed the image into Photoshop so that we could finish off editing both the background, door frame and model by creating a new layer and then a variety of adjustments. Each adjustment was worked separately to focus on a certain part of the image before coming together and seeing if anything needed tweaking slightly as well as which adjustment layer wasn't working.
This is a rough before and after of both images when edited in both softwares as I knew there would be a clear change to how each part of the photo looks like. As mentioned by Chris in the start of the tutorial, the wall looks yellow rather than white around the door frame which he wanted to edit and see if the colour could change and seeing both images, there is a dramatic change to the overall image which I believe would look slightly better if the model was slightly darker. This I think could contrast all the colours together and bring everything together as I want it to yet the window exposure, the model and the door frame colour looks a lot better than the very first image which didn't show the potential it could have.
Below are all of the notes that I was able to take throughout the tutorial in a way that I feel like I could understand for the future as well as giving me the opportunity to have everything written down in case I missed out something whilst physically editing my image alongside Chris. There is a lot of information to take in as it can be long winded if you don't know exactly what you need to do but I believe that with these notes and the first photo I have edited, I can get the hang of editing each of the 5 images and start to become quicker at editing.
If I need to go through anything again due to something going wrong or me missing a step, then I can quickly message Chris and see what I am doing wrong and just have a quick refresher as there was a lot to take in.
