Design Achievement
Northern State University has recently unveiled its newly constructed Regional Sports Complex on the campus, featuring Dacotah Bank Stadium and Koehler Hall of Fame Softball Field. Positioned on the southeastern edge of the campus, the completion of this complex will seamlessly connect the campus, creating a unified space. The introduction of this state-of-the-art facility significantly enhances the student experience by offering the convenience of walking to games instead of driving. Additionally, it elevates the fan experience with notable amenities, including a designated tailgating lot, family-oriented activities such as bean bag tournaments and bounce castles, and enhanced seating in closer proximity to the sporting events. Adjacent to the complex's south side stands the multipurpose champion's club on the second floor. Designed to accommodate over 350 individuals, this versatile space serves as a venue for a range of events, including seated meals during game days, wedding receptions, and the annual NSU Honors Breakfast.
Scope Summary
DLR Group, in collaboration with the University and the primary sponsor of the stadium, undertook an extensive wayfinding and signage project alongside their architecture and interior design responsibilities. This comprehensive package encompassed various elements such as building identification, monument signage, directional signage, and a donor program featuring a permanent exterior installation to recognize significant contributions to the program. The design package covered both the football stadium and the softball facility, with plans for team-branded experiential graphics to be included in a future Phase 2 project. DLR Group took charge of the project's architecture, interior design, and experiential graphic design aspects.
