WAVE collection, 2020

We designed a collection of objects named ‘WAVE’, which is study on formative and contextual characteristics of the industrial corrugated sheet. After being cut or overlapped with each other, the wavy materials create new usability and expandability of everyday product. WAVE collection is consisted of three anodized aluminum objects, which is tape dispenser, tray, and ikebana vase. It was mass-produced through simple processes, such as pressing, sandblasting, and anodizing, and done with steel manufacturers in Mullae, Korea.

INSPIRATION
We’re inspired from a view of the roof with a tyre raised to prevent it from being blown away by the wind. The forming elements of curves and circulars were disassembled and recombined into a WAVE tape dispenser. A WAVE tray got its motif from the old roof, which was constructed by adding pieces of roofing materials of different sizes. Incense sticks can be inserted to the practical hole in the anodizing process, and it is reminiscent of a chimney in which smoke rises. A gap between the roofing materials was interpreted into WAVE ikebana vase. Users can insert various flowers or branches into the holes of different heights.
