The problem was to choose a cause that affects a community and to use our creative voice to shine a light on the issue through creating illustrated merchandise. The cause chosen was poverty in Manenberg and its effects on education. The insight was that the young children of Manenberg do not have pride in where they live. While they face the daily struggles of poverty each day it makes it difficult to find joy in the simple pleasures life has to offer let alone striving to complete their education. The solution and concept of this brief is to create a range of illustrated merchandise for the high school students of Manenberg High to cover and decorate their school books with.
