Sustained Investigation 3- Justin Jefferson

To continue my sustained investigation project, I created a theme behind the Minnesota Vikings rookie wide receiver Justin Jefferson. He's been one of the most popular players coming out of his draft class, gaining tons of exposure.
I began with this photo of him celebrating as he walks into the end zone for a touchdown. I eliminated the background by going around him with the quick selection tool, then creating a layer mask to modify the background behind him. While there were a few jagged edges, I used the brush tool to clean up any unwanted spots or flaws to the image.
Next, I used this image and turned it into a background for the piece. I thought this would fit in nicely with the rest of the image, as it looks nicely as a space themed, dark background. The silver lightning or metal lines help to bring a new perspective on the background and complements the attributes of the main picture of Jefferson. Additionally, I added two custom made images using the polygonal lasso tool and the ruler tool to make a symmetric triangular pattern, one being filled in with the vikings purple jersey and the other filled in with the yellow vikings logo. Each image was individually made and was 5 inches high and 5 inches wide, creating 2 perfect symmetric triangles.
Next, I created a layer in between the foreground and the background. I used this image of Jefferson in a different touchdown celebration, but it contrasts the others based on the camera angle. I used the quick selection tool, the layer mask tool, and the brush in order to only use his body, rather than the unwanted background. Additionally, I limited the opacity to a lower percentage in order to allow the image to blend in with both the foreground and background to create a 3rd layer of depth.
Just like the previous image, I inserted this image of the vikings logo by clicking placed linked, but had to cut out the image using the quick selection tool, where I then used a layer mask. I also decreased the opacity due to blending purposes, which allows the viewer to see the logo, as well as the dark space-like background
Lastly, I used the textbook tool to add his name to the pre-made triangular outlined shapes. I warped both texts in order for it to better fit each image and maximize the visual appeal.
