The SCCRU logo was designed to illustrate the multiple faces of the Cooperative Research Unit, a research lab focusing on wildlife ecology. As such, it can be used for multiple occasions and in multiple medias, from sleek scientific posters to water-sprayed boats, following the needs of the unit rather than imposing its own design rules.

The design makes use of the moon crescent from the flag of South Carolina to represent the ideas of lowland/upland (South Carolina main regions) and air/ground/water. The four groups of animals that the Unit studies (Birds, Mammals, Reptiles and Fish, illustrated by silhouettes of a Brown Pelican, a Red Wolf, a Green Turtle and a Stripped Bass) are placed in their respective environment.

I designed three versions (seal, side text and round text) in three colour modes (blue, grey and black and white).
