Fiskars Pruner
2018
This project was made for the international brand “Fiskars”, specialized in gardening tools.
The assignment was to develop a gardening pruner from scratch.
This project was developed as a group work, where each member had to design a different gardening tool. The one I chose was the big scale pruner.

Ideation
I started by exploring what already existed in the market and proceeded by trying different designs that came to my mind.
During this project, I did not have a specific inspiration. I just kept on drawing what came to my mind. After some ideation, I found a shape I liked that suited the design I wanted my pruner to embody.

Colors
As a group, we decided we would use the traditional Fiskars orange and some mediterranean inspired colors, like beige, blue, white and grey.

Observations
We did several tests with different gardening tools to identify the problems older people had while trying to cut tree branches.
we concluded that most of the handles from these products weren´t confortable nor ergonomically suitable for a smooth and easy utility.

Prototyping
"Jumping clay" was used to make organic forms.

The handles and blades of the pruner were prototyped using wood for a better understanding of the design and its usability.
