A unique feature of offset printing is that the image and non-image areas are at the same surface level. The printing method uses the chemical fact that oil and water do not mix horizontally from a single surface. In fact, offset printing has obtained this method from photolithography, so it is also commonly referred to as photolithographic offset printing.
There are two main types of offset presses:
Sheetfed offset press: In this offset press, printing is performed on a single sheet of paper as they are fed into the press at one time.
Web offset press: In this offset press, printing is performed on a single sheet of continuous paper fed from a large roll. The sheet is then cut into individual sheets of the desired size.
