Translating Traditional Textiles

A - z experiment

To begin my MA research, I picked the letter 'T' out of A to Z. I began brainstorming all the words that could be relatable to Fashion and Textiles and interesting to work on.
I started with the word 'Translation', where initially I translated forms from nature into irregular yet natural stripes. Further, I decided to make it a personal journey of exploring clothing of my community; Kharia. Where I translated those traditional clothing into something new.
The stripes of my traditional clothing is fused with the natural forms from nature, giving me a unique and a familiar range of ideas to work with.

Brainstorming of the letter 'T' focusing on the lines of Issey Miyake and forms from nature.
Narrowing my research to the traditional clothing from my 'Kharia' community. Picking the red on white stripes as the identity of my clothing.
The mood board depicting the forms from nature and picking the contrasting colors that we see in the nature.
