Mictlantecuhtli - art toy by Ek Ocelotl

Hi! We are Diven and Temo, founders of Ek Ocelotl, we are passionate about our prehispanic culture and want to make it known all over the world.

We want the names of the Mexica (Aztec) gods to be known throughout the planet.

This is our first art toy! A representation of Mictlantecuhtli, lord of the underworld and death.

We are going to launch a Kickstarter campaign to bring this piece to reality, it´ll start on November 2nd and will end on December 2nd. It´ll be under the name:

“Exploring Mictlantecuhtli´s Temple, Art Toy by Ek Ocelotl”.

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a financing platform for creative projects, it is full of innovative projects that come true thanks to the direct support of other people.

How it works?

The creator of each project sets a goal and a financing term. If people like the project, they can contribute money and receive the rewards offered by the creator at the end of the campaign.

We have prepared many rewards to thank each contribution, including collaborations with Mexican artists that we greatly admire and the different editions of Mictlantecuhtli.

OUR ART TOY

We designed several editions, all made of resin.

This art toy represents discovering our culture, reconnecting with it, keeping it alive and taking it to the whole world.

MONOLITH EDITION

Our special edition, with a stone sculpture style that resembles being carved by the Mexicas themselves. It has a real obsidian stone on its chest! A stone of great ritual importance for the Mexicas, who believed that obsidian was created when lightning stroke the earth, thus constituting the union between the earthly and divine.

UV Edition

Available in orange, green, and pink. This edition was designed for all the lovers of the iconic colorful and vibrant art toy style. They look great under dark light (UV Light)!
