The Incredible Caucasus

THE INCREDIBLE CAUCASUS
The landscapes of my dreams
In September 2020 I got to travel to a very unique area that is called  The Caucasus. It is a region that is occupied by several countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and parts of Southern Russia). I visited the russian part of it. Firstly, I went to The Republic of Dagestan. You can check out te photos here  and read the whole story in my blog.
Secondly, I moved to the city called Kislovodsk.  From there I got to take several tours to different areas of the region. Here I want to present some pictures, so you could see how incredibly beautiful and unique this area is. I am sure that I will go back to capture it more.
The first day I went to Jily-Su, the area in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, that is famous for its waterfalls, picturesque scenery and mineral water sources.  On our way there one of the first thing we saw was the mount Elbrus (5642m).  Unfortunately, it was quite cloudy that day, so I got to see only once, right in the beginning of the trip.
We made several stops while the tour to Jily Su.  The views around were very picturesque.
The road to Jily Su is claimed to be one of the most beautiful in Russia. And it is hard to disagree with that.
One of the main attractions I wanted to see was this waterfall. Its name is KarakayaSu. It was so strong and powerful. I definitely was impressed with its' size and strength.
This country house (dacha) belongs to the president of Kabardino-Balkar Republic. The place is literally surrounded only by nature, waterfalls, springs and mountains. Would you like to have your house in this place?
Next waterfall was the smallest out of three waterfalls I saw that day.  Its' name is Emir.
And here is another waterfall that I got to see that day. This one is called Sultan.
Next day I decided to go to see the sunset at the Bermamyt Plateau. The weather forecast kept telling that it was going to rain. But I still believed that there is a chance that the weather was going to be fine. All the way to Bermamyt it was foggy, that we were barely able to see the road. I was getting a bit upset, because I though that I would not be able to see anything. However, when we arrived there, it all cleared up. And I did get my little piece of this beauty.
The Bermamyt Plateau is located in the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic.  The height is 2592,3 m.
Sometimes it seemed I could touch the clouds

I felt so tiny compare to these giant rock formations on the Bermamyt Plateau.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures!
