Creating a consistent brand experience
How to design a distinctive brand identity across different products
Pharma companies often choose "off-the-shelf" devices to deliver their therapies. While this can save costs and reduce risks, it can also lead to conflicting styles and a lack of brand consistency. So how do you make a range of existing devices feel like they are from the same family of products, while ensuring they still deliver the same quality and user experience?
We designed a consistent brand language and form across a family of three inhalers, creating a harmonious brand experience while maintaining functionality, robustness and consumer needs.
To build a clear understanding of the intentions for the product, we reviewed brand guidelines and other assets that help drive brand image, including corporate literature, websites and existing products or services. Understanding the parameters helps to ensure we work in line with any other design programmes that may be underway.
We not only attempted to visually tie the products together, we also looked for opportunities to enhance usability. For example, we incorporated a novel piercing mechanism on the capsule inhaler, removing a number of potential use related errors without changing the established sequence of use.
