MOXIE
2014
Moxie is a concept for a wearable device for HTC. It uses bio-identification technology to recognize a user's pulse pattern and enables a number of secure, personalized scenarios such as point of sale purchases, key-less entry, or auto-unlock for phones, tablets or other devices. With this technology, Moxie can create an eco-system for various business use case, like a personal information station in Airport lounge.
There are two more form factors for Moxie: C type and U type. The C type consists of a flexible structure insert-molded with silicon rubber to fit various wrist sizes. The leather-feel rubber assembly suggests a piece of jewelry more than a piece of technical equipment. Instead of a glass touch screen, C has a micro-drilled aluminum display and the touch pad is on the metal insert on the opposite side of the band.
The U type combines a stainless steel core with a U-shaped rubber band. The joint of these two parts is a hinge that both fastens the device to the wrist and switches the band on and off. Users can modify the U shaped band to adjust for various wrist sizes.
