Esquire Magazine Mockup

BRIEF:
Design a double page spread and cover page for Esquire Magazine. You are to choose a theme for the issue, e.g. The Celebrity Issue, which is to be prominently displayed on the cover. Concepts and a brief layout need to be presented to the class on Wednesday 21 August in an Acrobat presentation. Presentations can be kept to under 5 mins. Discuss what theme you have chosen, what your article/s will be about, and who will feature on the cover. Include a brief scamp of how you will be laying the DPS out. As part of your research include what you feel are good/bad examples of cover design and magazine layout.

CONCEPT:
The cover was based strongly with existing Esquire magazine covers. This saw a strong focal figure balanced with a chaotic type backing, stating other features within the magazine. The strong vector logo of esquire motivated me to do a high impact piece using all negative space as much as possible. I looked to create continuation between cover and feature so the colour scheme and strap lines remain constant.  My main focus was functionality of the text to assure this I employed high contrasts between the text and background of each DPS.
