This piece is inspired by the latest riots that happened around the world. It's a combination of the arrest of a woman while rioting in Russia and the famous painting "The Flagellation of Christ" by Caravaggio.

This picture is part of my series called "Life between the present and the past" where I merge old paintings with modern pictures or vice versa. Their purpose is to show that figurative art in spite of every effort made over the past century to be freed from it still remains, in its diversity, an invaluable source of inspiration.
