Motion Comics
Project: The History of Batman & Superman
Overview: Impressed with my motion comic work on Venom: Dark Origins, Casino Bonus Tips hired me to create and animate a motion comic in time for the release of the Batman V Superman movie, explaining a brief history of the two iconic comic book characters.

Goals: Translate iconic comic book scenes into a motion comic briefly telling the history of Batman and Superman

My Role: Motion Graphic Artist
Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Logic Pro X
Research
I delved into the most notable DC stories involving batman and superman, in search of good imagery to use in animation, guided by the original script. After finding the potential scenes to use, a documentary and several comic books later, I felt the need to expand on the script for both accuracy and quality, which went down very well with the client when pitched.
Graphics & Production
After receiving confirmation, I went ahead with refining the storyboard and got to work recreating the comic book art work required for animation.
Soundtrack
In order to set the correct tone for and rhythm for animation, I decided to compose the score myself in Logic, drawing from classic DC themes to give the whole piece a nostalgic edge.

Venom: Dark Origins - The Motion Comic
A self assigned University project in which I completed a case study into motion comics, the media landscape as a whole and where they could fit in and be utilised by brands and franchises effectively.
At the time, the distribution of digital comics hadn't quite been figured out properly yet and often still presented clunky unimaginative reading experiences compared to their physical counterparts. Motion comics were in their infancy and had yet to become so trendy and wide spread, featuring in high profile movies and video games as they do today. Although it has been an interesting experience seeing how many of my predictions about this medium have come to fruition.
