Charting the post-antibiotic era
This data visualisation enables readers to explore the four bacteria responsible for most of the world's infections, as identified by the World Health Organization. Moreover, the design maps the antibiotic resistance rate by region and compares it to the GDP per capita. The final result is a sleek, user-friendly, long-scrolling visualisation featured on BBC Future.
An interesting detail: the central radial visualisation was inspired by the petri dish used to grow bacteria. I was a member of the team at Beyond Words Studio that worked on the project's design in 2014.
