Sitarnaama (2019)
Craft Documentation
About
Sitar is a plucked stringed instrument which originated in the Indian subcontinent.
It is named after a Persian Instrument called 'Sehtar' (six strings).

This film talks about how a Sitar is made. It takes the audience on a journey of how a beautiful yet complex instrument, Sitar, is brought to life, in a very poetic way.

Based in Miraj, Sangli, in a small street famously known as Satar-maker galli.  The entire community works like an informal organization. Special thanks to Altaf Mulla, an artisan himself, and his family, who contributed a great deal into making this film.
