I am from Belgium. A whispered information which will not be the last answer. You wait for the next question, as some things remain untold with that kind of confession. Flemish or Walloon? Not that simple. You could also be from Brussels—a way to be Belgian twice. There are three broad distinguished categories in Belgium: the Flemings, the Walloons, and the Belgians.

Belgium's motto is: "l'union fait la force—union makes strength". Yet, nowadays, union seems so far away. What is on the other side of the fence looks more and more foreign and hostile. The reason perhaps has a name: the linguistic border. (Print, thesis, 2012)
