FIVE FOOT WAY ⏤ KAKI LIMA ⏤ 五脚基

When you stroll around Malaysia’s heritage site, it is not hard to see Malaysians having their daily activities at the sheltered walkway in front of their shophouses. It is called Kaki Lima (Five Foot Way), a five feet width shaded corridor. Five Foot Way has played an important role in Malaysians’ live for many years. It's used as shelter for tropical weather - pouring rain and blazing sunshine. Some residents use it for daily activities, like drying herbs and repairing motorcycles. It is also common to see senior citizens lying on rattan chairs, sheltering from sun, and enjoying their time.

All these make Five Foot Way a practically and culturally unique architectural feature in Malaysia.
