Diploma Project: GLORIA community center

Moving forward are a couple of drawings presenting technical aspects regarding the shading system for the facades, glazing, joinery and fire-proofing requirements.

The addenda below is a follow-up project on the same site, that I did as a means to showcase what I have learned on photorealistic architectural visualization. This collection of photos investigates urban ambience inherently connected to the Gloria Community Center.
One large boost to photorealism is accurately controlling light, and light scattering through environment. In order to help achieve this, a global volumetric material was used for a subtle "morning haze" effect.
Regarding technical details, it is safe to say that a lot of work was done in an effort to minimize tiling issues for surface textures. This is a common problem when dealing with large areas like exterior walls, terrace roofs, roads, sidewalks etc. While far from perfect, one quick solution is blending several materials together and masking them procedurally in order to avoid the tiling effect, and thus forcing texture randomization to occur. This provides a more natural look to the image, and is especially useful in outdoor scenarios like this.
A large chuck of the foliage was generated with the help of plugins, especially ForestPack Pro.
