Foodie Thoughts – Wise & Witty

Food is life. Eating and exercising are the practices that are learned and learned from people around us.
We have at least three opportunities every day to practice obtaining energy from our food. It's up to us to make it a delightful treat rather than a source of confusion and conflict. We need to value our food and build a healthier relationship with our eating habits. Having a love affair with food means having a strong, meaningful, respectful and loving relationship with the food we place in our bodies.

Here are a series of hand lettered posters that voices out a wise and witty foodie's mind.
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”- Hippocrates

A healthy lifestyle with good nutrition is vital for maintaining good health and disease prevention. This quote, though very ancient, acknowledges the importance of healthy eating and their healing properties.
The power of food to cure and rebuild persists, but the message is skewed and messy. It is time to look again at the restorative power of nutrition, not only to cure the body but also to cultivate life on all levels – body, mind, activity and relationships. Take full advantage of what a healthy diet can do for you!
"Everytime you eat is an opportunity to nourish your body."

The current trend of “Eating” is highly influenced by all the external information such as advertisements, Social media content, favorite celebrity endorsements etc. This is leading to cravings, addictions, various complexes and feeling of inadequacy. In the process, we forget that we eat to nourish the cells in our body and not JUST to satiate the likings of the tongue. There isn’t a single right way of eating for everyone, but the conscious consumption of each and every ingredient that goes in makes a huge difference. The bright side being is in this process is the improvement in energy, focus and productivity. Therefore, it is all in our hands and mind if we want to “Punish” or “Nourish” our body.
"Eating Well is a form of Self Respect."

There are many ways to love yourself but taking care of your body is the highest form of self-respect which has an ability to make positive changes towards our health, which means there is at least some control of our destinies. When you love yourself and your body, you consider what you eat to be part of the process of self-respect. One way to start practicing healthy eating as a means of self-respect is to ask yourself insightful questions any time you make a decision about food. Enable yourself to make decisions that are empowered, listen to your instincts and body, and realize that your food choices are uplifted. You also acknowledge that "your body is the temple of your soul" and that you respect your soul by taking good care of your home, only by giving it the best possible food, because that is what you deserve.
"You only live once, Lick the Bowl."

Life is short, make it more meaningful and worthwhile. This quote is sweet and has silly sentiments. It is about finding what brings you JOY in everyday life, living to its fullest extent and also embrace the actions that you usually don’t do. Hey, haven’t you ever heard that the last part of the food is more tastier and yummier 😉 ? Then, why think twice to relish the delish.
"I'm weak in maths when it comes to food." – Dr Piji

A witty thought from a fellow foodie’s mind. We all agree that mathematics is way more fun when you teach them with food as an example. But that fun is very short lived when you gotta apply it in “YOUR” food that you consume everyday.
How much “to eat” Vs how much “we eat” becomes very arguable. During those times, I would just like to follow what our grandparents always say, “Never count the food WHILE eating it, just enjoy it as much as you like it.” (Hinting at number of poori, vada and all those junk snacks 😉) Every once in a while, we need such food for thought days to move further and conquer the day.
“A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.” -Barbara Johnson

Over the years, the version of the word "Balanced Diet" has evolved, and this is the most common witty version of it. While there is quite an ambiguity in this argument, I would like to stick to my version of "Healthy Foodie." 😉
A balanced diet is a nutritiously balanced diet with the right combination of proteins, vitamins, fiber, fat etc. Any diet involves doing it in regulation and aiming to consume more nutritious foods than junk foods. Therefore, have fewer cookies, not the entire pack. OR chose a variety of smaller sized cookies (Duh!!! Problem solved).
