As part of my first onboarding task at Supahands, I was assigned to illustrate a Ramadan greeting. Normally, a regular joe would say a static graphic would do. I beg to differ.
Concept stage
1. Choosing elements that conveyed the essence of Ramadan: the moon, night sky, ketupat, breaking fasting, and the iconic green colours.
2. Setting variations of a 'night' mode and 'light' mode.
The Chosen One
After I narrowed down what the greeting should convey, the rest was a matter of planning the colour palette and animation timing.
I Made It Float Too
I initially thought of using a cyan background to make the 'light' mode more obvious. But the background's colour clashed too much with the lanterns. It was eventually scrapped and I reverted back to a purple theme.
Voilà!
