Apparel Illustrations: Pt1

You know what's weird?

Even though I see myself as quite reserved, when I start drawing I tend to try and push certain boundaries. Can you make something look nasty in bright, inviting colours? Or something depressing, alluring? When does something stop being cute and become grotesque?

By combining my current thoughts, emotions and the media that I've come across recently, I get the funkiest ideas.

For the above illustrations, I started out with very rough sketches. Since I had in mind getting my artwork printed on apparel, I made my sketches on a model wearing a blank t-shirt, whilst listening to some great tunes and letting my imagination run free.

Down below you can see an example of different rough variations of my piece "Time Flies". Chet Faker's song "Gold" and the accompanying music video, were a great inspiration in this case.
Some pieces I've made were originally for Threadless design challenges. For example, the psychedelic wolf, "Coral Wolf", and the Octopus Ice cream, "Squidscream", were both made for the Threadless "Living Coral" challenge. These, and my other illustrations as well, are now available on the drop shipping websites Threadless.com and Society6.com.

Next to making art for apparel, I've made 2D art for video games, table-top games, posters and I'm currently working on a 3x4 meter mural for a local toy store.

If you've got a project for which you believe my art is a good fit, please let me know. I'm open to freelance as well as contract based work and I'd love to help you out with your illustration needs, may it be for digital or for print purposes.

For now, I hope you found my work interesting and had a good time checking it out. If you want to see more of my work, make sure to follow me, for I plan to post several more projects in the near future.

If you have any questions, let me know with a direct message or down below, I'm happy to help! :)
