Optic Lamp is the replica of an optical illusion called "After Image".
It's a very common illusion which everyone feels it but often miss-out to observe closely!
The Inspiration
"I always like being near beach during sunsets and just observe the surroundings, the waves.
It just amazes me, whenever I get chance to see it! And there always has to be a lighthouse at the beach."
But being a kid, he is just trying to observe what is happening.
This inspired me to write a story about how a kid is looking at it.
"Light House" - A Story
I was sitting at the beach one evening and was having a conversation with the waves in front of me through my little eyes. Suddenly! The sun got set, which I was unaware of.
The sky and the land got merged. I started looking here and there to see what is happening, I found it was all dark. Only a single light source was visible which was coming from the light house nearby, and it felt like it was listening our conversation very carefully. Or in other words! It wanted to be part of our conversation.
For a moment, my eyes were just stuck on that small light source.
Suddenly, the light started getting more intensified, and at a point my eyes couldn’t tolerate it. I immediately tried to look away my eyes closed. After some times, when I opened up my eyes, I could see the light source in front of me. I was afraid. I consoled myself and rubbed my eyes and tried to look somewhere else.
But there also, I could see the light. I again tried to look away, but it was visible to me
everywhere!

After all my failed attempts, I wasn’t able to get rid of the light. But suddenly, the view in front of me got changed. The image of the light source took the whole form of light house!
Again! I was able to differentiate between the color of sky and the layer of waves.

An Illusion
After writing this story I could relate that we miss-out this very common optical illusion which is called – “Afterimage”. An afterimage is an image that continues to appear in the eyes after a period of exposure to the original image.
In the below example, try to see only the black dot in between the two circles for 10 sec.
and then look at the second black dot at the bottom!

Final Design Concept
Design Detail: line and circle.
The outer body is an aluminum metal sheet in a circular tube form, black coated Matte finished.
It has a pair of COB LEDs on top and bottom and a plane mirror in the middle connected to the main body,

which can be adjusted through a knob provided, which will reflect the lights coming through LEDs,
which will parallely create an interesting and playful element of light and shadow!
It also has a pull switch in the bottom to experience the illusion lavishly. It is designed to be used ideally at commercial spaces like Cafe and Restaurants, Art and design exhibition spaces.
