For this project, I was to capture and present six before-and-after pairs of photos of the same human or animal subject. The pairs each were to consist of a photo as taken and a photo which was cropped for effect, to tell a story.
My subject for these photos is an entertaining, multi-talented, and photogenic individual: my brother, Erik (nicknamed Duck).
I chose to take a "day in the life" kind of approach with these shots, as I think it is a style well-suited to both myself and my subject, who, as you can see, excels at working on vehicles and goofing around outdoors.
The camera I had to work with is not of the highest quality, so there is a bit of noise to contend with. Mosquito interference also played a part, and contributed to the need for occasional straightening.
I used Camera Raw to make these adjustments, as well as using new skills to make small improvements to white balance, image clarity, and clipping.
These photos are meant to tell stories of a teenager in one or two of his natural habitats, having a good time, and were captured at home and next door, at our grandfather's house.
This is perhaps my favorite. Between one hard day's work and another spent replacing the Duck Mobile's timing belt with two of our other mechanically inclined relatives, he is a little greasy, pretty proud, and a bit tired!
It was a pleasure to work with him on this project - we both learned a good bit this week, and had an ideal mixture of professionalism and laughter in the process.
