The challenge was to design a new packaging solution that overcomes most potato crisp packaging recyclability problems; to a consumer target market that is environmentally or sustainability conscious. Aimed at the eco-conscious consumer who wants to reduce plastic in their lifestyle; the packaging is made from kraft paper that is 100% biodegradable. Kraft paper is a strong recyclable, 100% no plastic material, one of the environmentally friendly packaging materials. This kraft paper bag has not been chemically dyed, it is in its brown natural form, which gives an earthy natural mood to the packaging; and encourages consumers that care and want to make a positive change in the environment to combat plastic waste in landfills. The design of the packaging is minimalistic with sans-serif typography and some texture on the typography to add a natural feel, the back side of the packaging has a heart that symbolizes love for the planet and text to encourage the consumer to choose packaging that is sustainable, effectively reducing plastic waste.
