My Culture is My Inheritance

While my first love will always be graphic design, I do dabble with illustration here and there.

For this project, I was required to identify my "code" - the unique thing that drives my thoughts and my actions. The thing that shapes how I see myself, and my outlook to the world.

After a period of me feeling lost, and unsure about who I am, what I wanted to do, and why I wanted to do it, I came to a point in my life when I realised that I had to take control of my life, and define who I am, on my own terms.

So began my journey to self. My first act as the chief of my own life - renaming myself. I chose the name Ngoza - after Warrior King Ngoza Mthembu. An ancestor who led the migration of abaThembu to the Eastern Cape over a century ago.
I found myself within my heritage. I decided that from then on, I was going to draw strength from that, and be the king, queen, chief, leader and conqueror
of my own life. This informed my expression of self, what I tell myself every day, and what my 'code' is - My heritage is my inheritance and my armour. I will adorn it with pride.
