A project I have been starving to make because of my old interest in Nixie tubes. Ever since I was a kid I had an access to the internet and one day I stumbled upon someone's clock that were using same kind of lamps and since that I wanted to have one pair. And so I made them, using pre-existing PCB design, ordering them as well as all the necessary parts, finding Nixie tubes from locals in my city and designing the case by sketching and drafting in AutoCAD.
Right after I recieved all the parts I proceeded to soldering them to the PCBs. After that, I finally used plywood and manually cut all the parts I needed by transfering my printed draft from AutoCAD to the piece of plywood.
After cutting and fitting parts together, I used some white wood stain to give them some bright white color. I never sanded it after coating as I wanted them to look a little rough, with all these chips too. Two coats of varnish and they were ready to become a gift to my girlfriend.
