If finishing the two posters for The Dark Crystal: Age if Resistance wasn’t enough, I was absolutely thrilled to finish the tapestry/banner. The biggest challenge was staying true to the layout while also making all the characters and elements feel cohesive and believable next to each other. Netflix gave me quite a bit creative freedom to illustrate and elevate everything I could within the time I had; I think it really paid off.
Technical aspects of this project were one of the most challenging I’ve had yet. I had to assess all elements, check how big they could go up (or how much illustration would be required) and build templates to a size and resolution that would hold up on a train. Tons of planning, production goals and scheduling went into it. Lots of long days and learning was had.
As you can see, I had to make sure the art could hold up to massive size so it could be printed on massive Comicon banners and adorn the San Diego Trolly.
