Vitrubio, arquitecto Romano del siglo I a.C. determina en su obra De Architectura que “La buena disposición de los templos debe estar basada en el cuerpo humano”1.
Esta relación entre cuerpo y arquitectura viene ya dada desde el origen de la disciplina en si, tomando la anatomía humana como referencia, no solo matemática, sino estética a la hora de construir. Evidente ejemplo es el de las Cariátides, columnas con forma de mujer que se repiten como motivo ornamental en una infinidad de edificaciones hasta día de hoy. Si bien con la llegada del Renacimiento perdimos el concepto teocéntrico de la Edad Media, el momento del antropocentrismo se va alejando de nuestra sociedad cada vez más. La precisión de ciencias como las matemáticas o la física han dejado esta simbiosis cuerpo-arquitectura obsoleta.
Hablo de simbiosis en cuanto a la influencia que ejerce la arquitectura sobre el hombre. Sitios tan concretos como las iglesias, han dictaminado conductas no solo de comportamiento, sino de vestuario o lenguaje entre otros muchos aspectos, a todas las sociedades a lo largo de la historia. El hombre hace al entorno así como el entorno condiciona al hombre.
Vitruvius, Roman architect of the 1st century BC. determines in his work De Architectura that “The good disposition of temples must be based on the bodyhuman ”1.
This relationship between body and architecture is alreadygiven from the origin of the discipline itself, takinghuman anatomy as a reference, not only mathematical, but aesthetic when building. Evidentexample is the Caryatids, columns shapedof women that are repeated as an ornamental motif in acountless buildings to this day.Although with the arrival of the Renaissance we lost thetheocentric concept of the Middle Ages, the time ofanthropocentrism is moving away from our societyincreasingly. The precision of sciences such as mathematics or physics have made this body-architecture symbiosis obsolete.
I speak of symbiosis in terms of the influence thatarchitecture exerts on man. Tan sitesconcrete such as churches, have dictated behaviors not only of behavior, but of clothing orlanguage among many other aspects, to all societies throughout history. Man makesenvironment as well as environment conditions man.
