Repurpose...life change.
Art for Everyday Life In 2017, I launched Repurpose, my own ‘Home Decoration’ product line. I studied the French art of decoupage and was drawn to its classic philosophy of making something new out of something old. Today, I specialize in producing beautiful decoupage pieces that can adorn and refresh any home. Repurpose takes old, familiar, sentimental, and whimsical objects we all possess and breathes new and joy-filled purpose into them. Using a French art technique called ‘decoupage’, I create beautiful pieces for everyday use out of objects that might otherwise have been thrown away. The story behind Repurpose unfolded over the past couple of years. As I studied and practiced decoupage, I began to see how, with care and insight, the ordinary could become extraordinary. Carrying this mindfulness in art into life, caused me to look for ways in which I could help girls from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through Repurpose, I now train young women who have had little or no formal education in the art of decoupage to enable them to live sustainable lives. From 2017 to 2019, we have been able to train women at the Chennai Women’s prison and Juvenile Girls home in the art of Decoupage. We have worked in association with two NGO’s Justice and Hope and Women of Worth to bring about sustainable change in the lives of women.
