I always wanted to hang a Totoro poster up on an empty space on the wall in my room. Initially, I was eager to get one over the internet. But I've done my research and nothing cuts to my budget and liking. One night some time back, I speed-painted a Totoro resting on a mess of other figures supposedly trees. It was sketchy and I didn't bother opening that draft again. Recently, I loaded it up on photoshop by accident and, long story short, I started working on it again and I've been keen to realize that Totoro on the wall. And so here you'd see the final product.
Once I print this out and framed, I'll post a picture of it right away.
I'm an avid fan of toys and Hayao Miyazaki movies. So in this piece, I portrayed that in the characters of Danbo and Howl's moving castle faint at a distance. It's titled FIrst Encounter simply because it depicts a scene from the movie My Neigbor Totoro where a young girl(Mei) meets Totoro for the first time. That's Mei sitting on a sleeping Totoro.
