Red Gold Afghan Saffron - a conceptual packaging for saffron.
The project consists of the main display piece for the Saffron - the psychedelic light box holding the saffron flower shaped packages and information cards telling the story of this spice in Afghnistan and it's part in the abolition of Opium cultivation in Afghnistan.
The main inspirations for this project came from the two sides of this agricultural battle, on one hand - Opium, with its hallucinogenic properties and the Saffron - a colorful spice used for cooking, medicine and the dying of fabrics.
The concept for this project was to create an experience of both sides of the story, as well as encouraging the consumer to believe they have an active hand in helping to make Afghanistan Opium-free when purchasing this specific brand of saffron.
I searched for a way to convey this idea and the story in a way that will give the experience of picking the saffron off the ground the way the saffron pickers do in Afghanistan as well as pass along the story of Afghan saffron and its contribution to the abolition of Opium growing.
