Trinseo's plastics are known to provide great aesthetics in automotive part, even in unpainted applications. Removing painting steps is crucial to carmakers as it lowers costs and weight and therefore enhances fuel savings. We draw attention to the benefits the industry desires by using a unique low key photography style on the applications. The shown parts are from high-end OEMs such as Porsche, Mercedes, BMW and more.
Our simple go-to set up:
2x flash Units (often only one needed)
2x Square 65cm Soft Boxes + Fabric Grids
1x 1m Circular Reflector (for fill-in)
(no tripod – yeah, we flow)
The pictures are later processed on Lightroom, mainly for color correction and to remove wires and dust.
All the photos here show the actual condition of the image, no cropping or further re-centring to allow for uses in different media, formats, and layouts.
Even though the objects in the featured shots look quite photogenic, their appeal is not always that obvious at first glance. When the client sends the car parts over, we often look at them with some serious head scratching before finding their best angle. And even if we do find it, it is sometimes tricky to hang the semi-structural, interior and exterior parts, arrange them and do justice to their product benefits.
The photos highlight the designed textures and surfaces, soft-touch components embedded into hard plastic sections, glossy and matte finishes. We always seek to translate these haptic characteristics and make them come alive visually.
