My midterm project for a drawing class was based around the idea of the perils of plastic. The only materials I was permitted to use were graphite, charcoal, chalk, and ink. 

In a three part series, my midterm project explored the subject of pollution and other threats to the environment.

This is the first and most finished part of the series.

In order to create my own version of the reference image above, I repurposed items that I collected from my peers and my university's campus:

- one empty Marlboro Gold cigarette carton

- 10 straws

This sculpture is what I looked at as I drew my midterm.

Additionally, I made a simple logo, saying "STRAWS" in the same font as the Marlboro brand font:

The last step was to warp this image onto the drawing using a design program.

Et voilà!
