MINGL
Winner / Kyoorius Youngblood awards 2019

Mingl was a design entry for Kyoorius Youngblood award, for a brief by Nestaway.

Nestaway is a home-solutions firm for people leaving homes to relocate to another city. Nestaway offers them a place they can call home, a community where they would be accepted & a platform which allows connections to various other access points.

The brief was to create a game to be used by the Nestaway residents to get familiar with their neighbours  and eventually bond for a longer and more comfortable stay.

MINGL makes getting to know someone feel less like a task and more of fun journey. Skipping the big effort that goes into small talk, it turns little nuggets from the people’s lives & personas, into a game of fun-filled conversation. From remembering what their pets are named, to calling someone out on whether they REALLY didn’t shower for 3 days, it engages everyone in each other’s personal moments, bringing everyone a step closer to being friends.

MINGL has two important devices that push the game forward. MINGL cards & TITTL TATTL Cards.

The game starts with MINGL cards where the players reveal facts about themselves based on prompts in the cards, for the others to memorise. One gets a chance to earn these MINGL cards one at a time, if they are able to correctly remember everyone’s answers when the opportunity arises.

The objective of the game is to earn 3 MINGL cards.
(and in doing so you know that you’ve learnt a bit about everyone)

The TITTL TATTL cards help create opportunities of earning MINGL cards for the players. They move the game forward through fun guessing games & secret spilling punishments to keep the players engaged.

SINGL coins are tokens you may win through as you go along. Pairs of these tokens can be traded for a MINGL card. Or as we like to say: Two SINGLs make a MINGL.
