Lockdown Editorial
When national lockdown came, we were given the task of portraying our experiences of lockdown in the form of a DPS editorial. The editorial was to be designed as if for an already existing magazine of our choice.
I decided to focus my editorial on my journey from being indignant towards my lockdown away from home, to being sympathetic to all people living in shacks no protection; which led to the realisation of my luxurious position. Furthermore, I decided to imitate Esquire UK, as the magazine’s content and style matched my aims while still being adaptable.
I wanted to design an illustration that a viewer would take time to wander around the composition and find little visual interests. To achieve this, I created a composition that superimposed the house onto my body - making myself literally house bound. This would also make the illustration a lot more personal, and the viewer would be able to get a significant feel for my experience of lockdown.
