BONSAI SCULPTURE GEOMETRY

Both bonsai trees and statues relate to each other in the aspect of long timelines that it takes to reach its form.

Bonsai Geometry
The intersection of nature and mathematics

Bonsai geometry is an exercise in working the negative space and adding tension to the photograph. Pencil lines are drawn to find the image center and continually added to frame and add a layer to the image. Working with odd numbers of fives, sevens, nines and elevens the gold circles are painted in a pattern or broken grid at various intersections in the negative space to create eye contact and movement to and away from the central image.
