UTOPIA - DISTOPIA
‘Utopia e Distopia’ is an art book exhibited at the MAMBo Bookshop in Bologna, during an exhibition about the utopia. Starting from the original text “Utopia”(1516) I searched stories similar to the one written by Thomas More but in contemporary time. I ran into the story of the Tylor Camp, a 70s hippie community that for many years occupied one of Hawaii island. The end of Taylor Camp was caused by privatization due to the State that converted it into a parking. During the time the Taylor Camp experience has been mediatically distorted. I decided to censor the text by T.M. and the images of the Taylor Camp by John Wehrheim, overturning the authentic meaning of the Utopia into Dystopia.
