Spillers Records Rebrand

Our brief was to find a local company and rebrand them into something completely different and original. I chose Spillers Records, as I believed their current brand to be stale and non-representative of what I felt that the company should be.

With this branding, I was attempting to evoke the duality of vinyl records, as demonstrated in the ambigram logo. The blackletter style typeface and monchromatic colour scheme are both suggestive of luxury, heritage, and audacity; themes that I had in mind throughout the project.

The promotional aspect of the brand is twofold, the first being a series of double sided cards that would be handed out on the High Street, or posted around the city. They're designed to provoke the essence of duality, and to popularise Spilllers through word of mouth and relentless exposure to the brand.

Secondly, the large billboard scale poster is exploring the longevity of the vinyl medium through visual comparison of historic benchmarks in the musical media. Again, it is intended to promote Spillers as a luxury record store, rather than an unremarkable, stuffy place.
