MENTAL HEALTH INDEX SINCE COVID19

To understand the impact of covid19 on mental health we should consider the various aspects of  mental health because it might happen that the virus can harms someone’s mental health directly or indirectly.
For better understanding Lets take example of a Mohit Sharma who is 30 and from Delhi, works in marketing company as an SEO . Since the  mid of march the govt announced lockdown because of the increasing rate of cases and the lockdown continuous for straight 3 months . just because of the lockdown and day to day rising cases the economy comes into recession and it was a really tough time for everyone to stand in the market . In such scenario not just small but also big companies started firing employees and cuts the salary.
Mohit is one of them who suffered such an economical crisis. During the lockdown period it was very difficult to survive for the ones who have past savings but what about people who gets paid on daily work basis. As we said that the pandemic has an indirect a direct impact on mental health, people started feeling depressed because they lost there jobs they have family to look after. There are people who came from rural areas just for work how can they will survive. As per the reports the food giant zomato fired 13% of employee and announced 50% salary cut due to the covid19.
Covid19 has an impact on human relationship and connection. In our daily life we meet many people whether they are known or unknown, we connect with them somehow. According to WHO report that the Virus spreads by touch, which means the virus just affected our social life. Many people started feeling alone and helpless who already were suffering from depression and anxiety.
India is very highly populated country and the chances of a huge rate of infection lies in here. people are getting worried as they started thinking that If they got infected somehow, they might not intentionally but can infect there close ones, which is another major reason behind the impact of covid19 on mental health. Now we can say the this covid19 just separated us from our own people.

IMPACT ON MENTAL HEALTH

A recent survey by the Indian Psychiatry Society (IPS) found that the amount of mental disease cases had increased by 20% during the lockdown, which implies minimum of one in five Indians were affected.
The IPS warned that the loss of livelihood and increasing levels of economic hardship, isolation, also because the rise in domestic abuse amid the pandemic could trigger a replacement psychological state crisis in India and It may gives a rise to the suicidal tendencies. I suspect we're getting to start seeing the impacts of psychological state now. The crisis has gone on for long enough and other people are running out of steam," Soumitra Pathare , Director of Center for psychological state Law and Policy, told DW. "We all ultimately have a limit to what proportion resilience we've , and if the strain is just too much and continues for too long, we'll run out of our capacity to affect it," he added.

A recent survey by independent researchers reported suicide because the leading explanation for non-COVID-19 related deaths during India's lockdown. According to the survey, 343 people died by suicide since March this year, with 125 of them due to fears of infection, loneliness, a scarcity of freedom of movement, and therefore the inability to travel home.

The study also cited financial distress and alcohol withdrawal as suicide factors. Another major reason behind suicide is people are loosing there jobs and livelihood. During the lockdown period the economy was in recession which leads to shutdown for many small business and many business started firing there employees. The virus and lockdown is a reason behind the stress and depression but not only for employee or worker section but it has also affected the employer community.

Current Scenario

The pandemic is probably going to possess both long- and short-term implications for psychological state and substance use. Those with mental disease and substance use disorders pre-pandemic, and people newly affected, will likely require psychological state and substance use services. Consequently, the pandemic spotlights both existing and new barriers to accessing psychological state and substance use disorder services.
In 2018, among the 6.5 million nonelderly adults experiencing serious psychological distress, 44% reported seeing a psychological state professional within the past year. Compared to adults without serious psychological distress, adults with serious psychological distress were more likely to be uninsured and be unable to afford psychological state care or counseling . For people with coverage , an increasingly common barrier to accessing psychological state care may be a lack of in-network options for psychological state and substance use care. those that are uninsured already face paying the complete price for these and other health services.

Conclusion

Limited access to psychological state care and substance use treatment is partially thanks to a current shortage of psychological state professionals, which can likely be exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. While some psychological state providers are increasing their use of telemedicine in light of social distancing, not all are ready to do so. The recently-passed Corona virus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) may help to deal with the likely increased need for psychological state and substance use services.
