Torre Boldone is a city of 8.837 inhabitants, located about 3 kilometres northeast of Bergamo. It’s unconsciously a skate-friendly place due to its public space architecture. So, different crews of skaters naturally have rethought benches, hand-rails, walls as right obstacles to practise tricks. But, after 15 years, the main spots are rusty and not skateable anymore as well. The worst skate square became the only choice for locals.
The plaza could be turned into a real useful skatepark. This kind of structures is an example of social sustainability because a strong skate-scene is a tool of social interactions and a different step for smarter and more inclusive solutions. Over the board no matter who you are, everybody will cheer for your best trick! For this reason, cities all over the world have already started to plan and build safe skate places that allow skaters to grow for strengthening a better future community.
The new proposal is designed over the existing perimeter and try to inside traditional skatepark ramps, mixed in a contemporary way. So at first, everyone can learn basic tricks and, after, mix them in creative lines. Original city spots began the inspirations for geometries details and variations, giving back the timeless creativity of the street.
