SSC: Strike a Chord (2018)

The Super Summer Challenge is an annual program at The City Library — a solution to "summer slide" and boredom for kids, teens, and adults. Exploring diverse sounds and music, the theme for 2018 was "Strike a Chord". The branding utilized bright, saturated color palettes (specific to each age group) and visually represented sound through flowing, rippling patterns inspired by Chladni figures, explosive bursts, and the musical notation imagery of staffs and bars.

Events throughout the summer included free summer concerts, open mic events, and the launch of a free, online music library of local artists and musicians (link to HUM project?). These were advertised through a specially designed printed calendar booklet of events, color-coded by age group. The trackers for the challenge included more coloring pages, as well as a physical mini-challenge lovingly dubbed "Sloth Mountain" — patrons could walk, run, bike, or even swim a total of 40 miles to reach the top.

Trackers for each age group were differentiated by colorways
